GENE SIMMONS' Son On Dad's Hair: 'It Kinda Looks Like A German Military Helmet'
August 2, 2006The official web site for "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" — the unscripted TV show about KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons' life — currently features a lot of great video footage from the series. For example, there's a video in which Gene's son Nick shows the viewers around in Gene's office/KISS museum and with a lot of dry humor comments on the merchandise. Nick comes off as a funny guy in most of the videos — especially when he's making fun of his dad. For example, Nick's comment on Gene's hair: "It kinda looks like a German military helmet." Or how about Gene's daughter Sophie (on Gene): "He'll work out, but the hair doesn't sweat." Gene himself concludes: "Everybody thinks it's a wig," which prompts the following reply from Nick: "It says 'Made in Japan' right back here…"
In other news, Gene Simmons has posted the following message on his official web site:
"We started off today [Aug. 1] doing a ton of press for our 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' show on A&E — it premiers this Monday [Aug. 7]. Watch it.
"Howard Stern was at the crack of dawn. We all know and love Howard, but if you do his show, your guard better be up. He is bright and will go for the jugular...because it's funny. But, Howard was clearly smitten with Miss Shannon Tweed. All he could do was talk about how classy and beautiful she is. And, of course, he's right.
"We then went over to see Barbara Walters and ABC's 'The View'. If you missed Barbara and I dancing at the top of the show, or our beautiful daughter Miss Sophie pulling the rug out from under her Dad, which caused me to throw myself on the floor in front of everyone...you missed it.
"Lots of radio interviews followed, and then...
"We ended the day at Martin Short's one-man show in New York. Martin was hilarious..sang...joked...and — pulled me out of the audience. He sits me down next to him in the middle of the show and (I'm completely at a loss as to what he's got planned) he proceeds to bring everyone in the theater (and yours truly) to tears...laughing our butts off.
"Go see his show!!!"
